Anying & Teyong : Bubbles!

an experimental animation project.
I was going to publish a daily animated gif at tumblr, but later find a lot of problem so I'm back to blogger.
it was supposed to be like a series of web comic but it's animated.
the characters are based on toys I made last valentine.
Hopefully there will be more :)
this series is called Zuppetdzigh (Zuperdzigh's puppet shows, or something like that)

Lulu the Wolf in Lamb Cloth

finally! New Animation :)
made this for a national  television animation challenge (which I failed, tssk!)
the animation is based on the character I made months ago for my zpiderdzigh.
I usually made animations first then the toys, now it's reversed, I made the toy first then the animation.

the story was inspired by Korean bands which are very popular in Indonesia.
Teenagers went crazy about everything Korean, they even make Korean-styled boybands/ girlbands.
Most people think negatively about the trends, while me, I also think it was stupid, silly, but entertaining too.
maybe they will regret it or realize how silly they are in 5 or 10 years later, like me looking at the Backstreet Boys' old music clip.
but that's the fun of being young, to have some interest at anything no matter how silly it is.
so teenagers, this animation is dedicated for you :)

warning: the animation is about 24MB, so please wait patiently till it's loaded

dear Zeusbox Studio

I never wrote about my work at the studio (and I won't).
And probably it's the first time I ever write about Zeusbox Studio.
I've been working at Zeusbox Studio for 4 years, and last month was the last month I worked there.
The project is done, and it's time for another project.

Honestly there were times that I hate my job and almost give up.
but spending those years together with the team made it harder to move to another place.
I'm so thankful to ever being a part of the team, meet all the crazy crews.
don't tell them that I love working with them and I will miss them all
I will definitely miss their jokes and their awful taste of songs.

Thank you again for everything and good luck, boys!

Auction mode

When I talk about camera, it means: I don't have anything to post right now, but must keep this blog active anyway.

I got something, but I haven't edited it, so pretty much the same.
Very unproductive graphic/multimedia designer -_-
I work, so of course I draw and create animation almost everyday, but umm... I don't wanna share the work here,
so I waited until I created a side project of my own, something unrelated to my daily work, which is rarely done,
except the yarn toys of course :)

back to the camera, there was one mode that make me love my camera, at least its manual.
Auction Mode.
Here's the pic I took using the auction mode:

yup, you can instantly took multiple pictures collected in one frame.
Like its name, this mode could be practical for selling stuff when you need to show the stuff in multiple views.
I found that the camera is definitely for me, is because on its manual, they also used amigurumi as the object.
I was like Awww... this is really My Camera :p
Yashica Ez- w501  (and now I seems like making free advertisement)

Once on a Sunday Morning

I took MM (Multimedia) as a major back in college,
but instead making Multimedia like video, interface design, web design,
I enjoyed trying MM for Mix Media.
not because I'm good at mixing media, actually I really suck at making embroidery and painting.
this is my first attempt, how do you think?

again, it's based on my animation , see the crochet version here, and the animation here

Unused artwork

as someone who refer herself as a designer, I try to keep making some artworks in my spare time.
so I have something to show on my deviantart or this blog.
But it rarely work, I prefer sitting in front of my TV, knitting or crochetting than doing some artwork at my desk.
And even if I could force myself to work at my desk, it's not always work as I wanted.
for example, here's some artwork I made for my android giveaway last year:

I used paper cut for the illustration. it was almost finish, I just have to make some small android robots, but suddenly I got lazy, because I hate the colors, and there's no ctrl+z and color editor on making paper cut illustration.
so I decided to make digital illustration instead. the quick one. this one.

well this illustration is not the only unused artwork I have hidden at my desk, there's a lot of unfinished artwork there too :(

Do Not Do Not Ever

it's not an abstract picture, it's a warning
do not... DO NOT ever change the XplusDigital's mode to fast, it might broke your camera.
I got this broken image during the photo session for my Chinese Gold-gurumi
Luckily this "sickness" is not permanent

My New Camera

New Year, New Camera, same eyes

Nothing change, I'm still the amateur photographer (if I might refer myself as photographer)
I don't think expensive camera would help me, or actually I thought it would be such a waste to buy a mighty and smart camera.
so I choose a Yashica EZ- W501
why? because it fits my budget, I did ask the seller, the cheapest digital camera (with Li-ion battery)
it's cheap (read: not that cheap) for a 14 MP and dependable enough.

And I didn't really know what it could do, cause I just need the macro mode for my amigurumi.
There are actually about 14 modes, but for now my favorite modes are the program mode, lomo mode, and auction mode.

the chili tree
using program mode (only red items shown in colors)

the broken lock
using the same program mode

the broken lock
using Lomo Mode

well you could easily do this with photoshop, but for me photoshop is never easy.
of course the "lomo mode" might not as good as the real lomo picture, but I think it's really good for an instant dramatic effect.
I highly recommend this camera for another photoshop dummy like me (please tell me, I'm not the only photoshop dummy in the world)

there are also other interesting modes, like fisheye mode, but I haven't use it.  I tell you more about the auction mode and the other modes next time.

the old and the new

I really feel bad, since it's my main blog, zuperdzigh's zuperdzigh blog,
but I kinda neglected it because I was busy keeping my zpiderdzigh blog.

I can't promise, like making a new year's resolutions to keep updating this blog more regulary
but I can promise you that starting on today, I will posting more often than last year.

Not really design related post, I'm too lazy to designing at home after working daily at the office, but definitely will try to post something at this blog.

I don't know what will I do this year, but as a beginning,
I changed the banner up there from this:

to this:

a not-so-lazy beginning right? :)
let's hope I will do something more.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! have a prosperous year :)

Bloopers

it was a nice, dramatic scene
when I realized I didn't put the Glue far enough.
D*mn, and there's no way to recreate the picture
I'm a dummy photoshopper, remember?

Oh Shaky Hands

I didn't expect a good picture when I got shaky hands while pressing the shutter button.
but the results are not as blurry as I expected too :p

Playing with toycam

I want to be so many things, but one thing for sure, I'm not a photographer.
I bring my camera almost everyday, but rarely took pictures, even when I was traveling.
I hate taking pictures of other people nor myself.
I don't like taking picture of things I could see in postcards.
so I'm really not a photographer.
Now I got something what so called toy cameras (toycam), and I enjoyed taking pictures with the toycams.
I'm not promising any pretty or interesting pictures for you, but at least it's interesting for me.

Here are the pictures taken from my Kurodigi

the rainbow at the rooftop
at the garden of daisies
 broken hearted Frankenstein

below are the pictures captured with Xplusdigital:

the first thing you see outside the Studio I've been working at, really it's not that interesting :p
Kupir, my favorite model
An & Mon

and here's from my first toycam, disderi 2 lenses (not digital)

I had took a lot of pictures with my toycams, but I must admit, not every picture goes well
Hey, it's a toycam, I'm playing with it, at least I'm having fun :p

Belajar Bersama An dan Mon: Manfaat Air

I think this is my 5th animation with environment theme, the 3rd animation with water as the specific theme, and my 1st animation which is won the 1st place in competition :P

I made it for the animation competition for the Pesona Edu Challenge and Partnership.
Had a very bad cough because of working on this animation, and got a very big acne due to the stress making the presentation.
I meant, I never talk in public, making presentation like for 3 years?
And I think the doll version help me a lot through the presentation.

My business card or something like that

Unlike my knitting blog which is updated every once a week, this blog is rarely updated.
The thing is, I could make knitted/ crocheted project with less responsibility than when I was making graphic design.
the creativity process were basically the same, they were all began with sketches,
I'm thinking seriously too when I was designing my crocheted toy.
I could knit/crochet while watching TV but I can't make animation/ illustration while doing something else.

ah... I made too many excuses.
so for the monthly update, I'm showing you my real business card.

it has my real name and my blog addresses on it.  Enough for me.
I don't think it would be necessary to have my phone number, I'm really bad at answering the phone :p

I'm not a minimalist designer, I'm a lazy one.
the large white area is meant for it's second function, which is as a label tag for my crocheted toys.
just punch a hole at the top of it and it's done. a Label Tag :)

Okay.. I'm a lazy and stingy designer.
by the way "karya dessy TAB" means created by dessy TAB.

I'm using "karya" instead of "created by" because I'm an  Indonesian Designer :)

Happy Lebaran

So next week is the Lebaran Holiday for the my Dad and all the moslems,
for me it's a Vacation! Yay!
by the way, I just remember, I made this e-card for my friends
It was from my archive,
feel free to send it to your friend :)

Oh.. and Happy Lebaran for you
I'm not celebrating Lebaran, but please forgive me if I do made mistakes :)

OrangUtan dari Hutan Hujan

"Orangutans are endangered because of rain forest deforestation,
what if rain forest were endangered because there are no orangutans anymore?"

So here is my latest animation
the orangutanku dolls were based on the orangutan in this animation,
while the orangutan character was based on my nephew (don't tell his mom!)
The text is in Bahasa Indonesia, I'm too lazy to change it's language
more or less it tells about the rain forest and of course the orangutan.
what will the children imagined about the rain forest if there is no rain forest anymore?

The BGM was made by me last year for another animation (but I never finish it).

OOPS I DID IT AGAIN AGAIN!

I was planning on sharing my newest animation, but postponed because I missed something
typo problems...
It was not a new thing, I did similar mistake in my past  animation project.
it should be "let's plant a tree..." instead of "let's plan a tree"
I thought it was normal, since English is not my language.
Now the problem is, my newest animation using Bahasa Indonesia, and yes I did it again!

No, I won't share you the unrevised version :p
Not after I saw another mistake, not in my animations, but at this blog.
check the banner, you'll know what I meant.
www.zuperdzigh.blog.com
I mistype my own blog address....... OOPS I DID IT AGAIN AGAIN!

Orangutanku packaging

When I started the OrangUtanku project, I spent weeks, even month just for the packaging design.
I want to make them special, exclusive, cheap, and simple.
Boxes are cheap, so I was thinking of using designed boxes. (I'm a designer, I could design it, right?)
But, I HATE MAKING BOXES
I'm a person who can't cut straight
The other alternative was using plastic boxes which are available in certain store.
Cheap and Simple, no sweat. But it's wrong.
It didn't go along with the mission to save the orangutan.

So.... maybe the orangutan helped me, because suddenly I got the idea of using pouch.
The problem was I can't sew... (yeah, I can't cut and sew in straight lines)
So my dearest mother helped me (Merci, Maman <3)
She bought the fabric, cut it and sew it (and put some embroidery on it)
All I did was give some brief and make a tiny thank you tags.
isn't it cute?

of course for shipment I wrapped it again in a box, and the box was also special.
I thought it was brilliant (no, it was silly actually), I would share the tutorial for the box soon ;)

PS: the doll in the picture is Ginanjar, he still need a new home :)

My Name Card

Finally! I have a name card!
Nope, not a business card, only a name card.
No titles because titles don't give me the right definition.
I'm a designer, maybe an animator or something else,
but I don't think people would likely give a call only by looking at my titles.
I must be lucky if they do call me, but I'm not sure that I would be happy.
They wouldn't know what they are buying, if they didn't see my portfolio.

So here's my name card design.
I already print some on Java paper.
of course the real number and email address are in the printed version.
Plain but it's enough for now.

From the last year's archive

How could I forgot this project?
But yes, I did :(

I made this project last year for my picture book.
the picture book was never been published because it was for a competition, and I didn't win :(

I saved all the illustrations in my flash disk, and the flash disk was borrowed by my Dad for almost 6 months.
Yup, I did forgot about the flash disk too.
few days ago I just suddenly remember about Budi, the boy in the story.
My bad.. really my bad :(

it's (still) May!

I just checking my own blog, then realized I haven't update this blog for a month!
My bad...

Telling you about what I have made without showing anything is just lame.
I knew :(

SO... I won't tell you anything now :D

That's it for my May blog post *giggles*

Fake F.A.Q #3

Can't stop making this fake F.A.Q even tough nobody interested (sigh)
it is an unnecessary blog right? So I'll keep posting unnecessary things for you

Fake F.A.Q #2

I got spare time (not really, just too depressed to finish my work)
so I made another F.A.Q. it is because someone said, a real people who creates original work should be proud using their name.

Guide: How do you get an idea?

Unnecessary guide, since the truth behind this guide is not guaranteed.
remember, it's me who made it :D
Unnecessary post, because I've post it in my knitting blog too.
I do this re-post because it is an unnecessary guide, and this blog is for my many unnecessary things.

click on the image to go read the guide, I've warned you, once again, it is an unnecessary guide.

a memoir of the wonderful dog, Ibey

Finally they announced the winners.
I knew I'm not one of them, it's okay.
I made the animation to make a contribution for the Citizens For Global Solutions Multimedia 2009 Contest.
The prizes are tempting, but it's not the main reason I am joining the contest.
Even a person like me, cares a little bit about their causes (global problems).
But the main reason I made the animation is to make a memoir about my beloved dog, Ibey (spelled like ebay).
She died at October 17th 2009. (I made the animation about a week after that)
She was blind and old but everybody love her.
I have many other dogs, but she was the special one.
I've got many inspiration from her. (I've made an amigurumi version of her too)
this time I make an animation with her as the main character.

(click on the picture to watch the animation on my DA)

So the animation title is "Boo & Bey's ways to save the world".
Boo is the Boy, and Bey is Ibey the dog.
Like you may have guessed, it is a go green related theme.
As the contest rule, it is a choose-your-own-story animation.
Hopefully they will show you ways to save the "world".
It doesn't have to be the smartest way, but at least they try :D

By the way, I've made Boo amigurumi version too!

keep the drum rolling a little bit longer...

I was planning on making a new post today. Yes, I do make a new post now.
Not exactly like what I was planning to post.
It was not going to be a "happy" post, but I was looking forward to the bright side.
Now I'm not sure there was going to be a bright side there.
on my twitter, I said, "I've prepared for my waterproof mascara, and silk handkerchief...."
(it's a metaphors anyway)
well sucks, nothing bad really happened.
Wait a minute! nothing bad really happened, could means a good thing!
But there still a big possibility that those bad thing will happening soon or later.
Oh please put me out of miserable!

however....this is my newest profile picture.
Yes, I've already put this picture since last week on my profile and my twitter.
And talking 'bout twitter, I won't say "please", but you may follow me :D
My twitter is not interesting compare to another designer, some people who knew that I'm a designer expect me to be crazy, but I'm not. So I've warned you.

See Ya...

The Angkot

Again, I am very busy this month that I haven't got something new to be posted here.
actually I have one... but I have to keep it as a secret for now. Don't worry, I'll post it here sooner or later.
So, let me share you my long time ago animation: The Angkot.
I made this animation for Nonzetflash animation contest.
I didn't win, but I kinda proud of this animation, for this is my first animation which use my originally-made BGM.
The BGM title is Nyoi, to be exact Nyoi two. Because I thought the sound I'm using is sounded like "Nyoi-Nyoi". (Nyoi has no meanings at all, in case you are wondering)
I'm still learning to make a better BGM, I am nothing compared to those cool sound engineers :D

you may watch the animation from my DA here

How to make bird origami

I almost forget the main reason I made this blog. Like the tag line in my banner, this is used to be a unnecessary blog with a lot of unnecessary guide. So here is my newest unnecessary guide, I hope there will be more to come :D

flash back

I'm a person who look at the past.
I don't have anything to post yet. It's a new month, I think I need to update my blog. Since this blog is not dedicated for my blah-blah-blah things, I think I'd rather publish my past animation.

check this out

I made this animation in 2007, for a competition, held by a University. I won the second place. The theme was product promo, and I chose microwave popcorn for my theme.

Well I won't write or talk about my animation's concept. I already did that nervously during the presentation for the competition. instead, I will tell you about the microwave popcorn literally.

That time I was craving for microwave popcorn so bad. Microwave popcorn are expensive, and I was barely survive my college days by my allowance only. (yeah, I didn't pay my college fees, but a college girl need a lot of things right?)

So the first thing I bought with the prize money was Microwave Popcorn with caramel. It was the very best microwave popcorn caramel I ever eat. Bought a microwave popcorn by making animation about microwave popcorn :D

I've wrote about my comic strip last year, well, here's the second part. Click the picture for a better view.
there's no 3rd or 4th etc tough :(

and by the way the first picture was the artwork for the comic. Right to left :Squiddy, Callypso, Picasso
well the Picasso appearance is kinda changing

Go Green!

Lately, people talking about "go green". Every event held with go green-theme got very good responds. Honestly, I am not really concern about this go green stuff, because I like pink.

hmm... sounded like a stupid reason. Okay, I'll change my reason. I am not really concern about this go green stuff, but doesn't mean I don't care at all. I was accidentally involved with a go green event in the church. Yes, in the church. I am not a really religious person, so it was a double accident. I was just helping my high school friend in making a photography contest for this go green event. I didn't even care about the go green theme, but I thought that event was a very good event. Too bad I was just helping the photography contest comittee.

Before the event, I was consciously participating in a Global Warming Animation contest, held by Global Solutions. I made a flash animation, mother nature's love in 2 days only. But it took about a very long time to realize that I miss-spelled "plant" to "plan".

Last year I was participating for another global warming animation, held by Da Ai TV, a local television in Jakarta Indonesia. The title is "Small things I'd do for the world", unfortunatelly the sub is in Bahasa Indonesia. The story tell you step by step to go green. Again, I'm not a go green person, I was only do 30% from those steps mentioned on the animation.

I thought it's a little ironic, that people like me making animation about go green. because the process in making the animation is no green at all. Computer was used almost 24 hours a day? Countless paper for the sketch?

Sajen

It's been a while since the last post. Yes, not a while, it's been a long time since the last post. I have many things to write and post, and it is hard for me to stay focus on one topic, so let me get to the point

I won! Hurray! I won!!!!!
(Is it too "to the point"?)

On 2009, The Indonesian ministry of Industry held an animation contest for the first time. And luckily, I won the third prize in the professional category. When I said "luckily", it means I am truly lucky.

Wait a minute, am I a pro ? and right now in my head, I am screaming , "NOOOOO! Are you kidding??"

There were 3 categories for the contest, students, college students, and pros. I am not a student. I still have a "college student card", but I am not a college student anymore, I never paid the tuition since the 3rd year. So I wrote a statement on the CD, "I am not a student, nor a pro"

I have been working as an animator for 2 years, but I don't think I am a pro. It is different between making animation and being animator. I got paid by being an animator even when I'm not making animation, but I'm not always get money when making animation.

Hey... maybe I should not admit that I am not a pro. It is bad if I want to get a new job. So forget what you read... forget what you read.... :D

I am a pro, at least I have a signature from the ministry of industry which proof that I am a pro!

hmm... just in case you are curious about the animation, you may check it on:

Sajen (the new link a link link)

Please leave a comment, what do you think?

edited (february 24/2011): updated the link to the animations
